After installing Microsoft IE 8 on Windows 2008, the Microsoft Windows Explorer refuses to open folders in the same window, even if the “Open each folder in the same window” is checked.
Re-registering “actxprxy.dll” resolved this issue.
>Start > Run > regsvr32 actxprxy.dll
Log off an on, the settings should work again.

I’ve tried this fix. Does not work for me. I’ve also tried this…
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Folder\shell\open\command
%SystemRoot%\Explorer.exe /separate,/e,/idlist,%I,%L
…which doesn’t work either.
This is REALLY annoying. Of course nothing on Microsoft’s website about this. I’ve found if they don’t know how to fix something, they just don’t acknowledge it. Then they can say they didn’t know about it.
Grrrr….
🙁
