After removing Microsoft Office 2010 beta 1 from my system I could install Microsoft Office 2010 RTM but not Microsoft Visio 2010 RTM or the SharePoint Designer 2010.
The setup errors:
Setup is unable to proceed due to the following error(s):
Microsoft Office 2010 does not support upgrading from a prerelease version of Microsoft Office 2010. You must first uninstall any prerelease versions of Microsoft Office 2010 products and associated technologies. Crrect the issue(s) listed above and re-run setup.
Solution
-
Download the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility setup (msicuu2.exe): http://download.microsoft.com/download/e/9/d/e9d80355-7ab4-45b8-80e8-983a48d5e1bd/msicuu2.exe
-
Run the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility setup
-
Run the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility: “C:\Program Files (x86)\Windows Installer Clean Up\msicuu.exe”
-
Select all beta products and remove them. In my case it was the Dutch proofing tools, which caused the setup error.

thx, this thing was bugging me 🙂
No, this only solves the problem in a couple of cases. I never had a Beta version installed and no traces of Beta can be found – however, I still get this error and e.g. can’t install more proofing tools in different languages.
This actually worked. After working on this all day your solution fixed the problem. Thank you. I wish I had began here.
URL van cleanup utility werkt niet meer. Is niet langer supported door Microsoft.
The link isbroken. Can’t go to that site..
Hey this thing really worked(if the link is broken, then search this software name on google u will easily find it). But maybe u’ve to remove some registry entries of MS Office manually.
