To read mine Hotmail e-mails in Microsoft Outlook 2010, I followed the steps at http://win.downloadatoz.com/tutorial/5480,how-to-connect-hotmail-and-live-email-accounts-with-outlook-2010.html.

with some adjustments:

If you follow the steps above and you don’t have the Microsoft Outlook 2010 Hotmail connector installed, you will be asked to download and install the connector.

– Install the 32 or 64 bit version

– Restart Microsoft Outlook 2010

– You will be asked if you want to add a new Hotmail account, enter the correct Hotmail account information

After entering the correct information I received the following "Send and Receive errors":

Task ‘test@msn.com’ reported error (0x8DE00005) : ‘This account does not have permission to synchronize your mail. To sign up to gain permission to synchronize with this account, please go to http://ideas.live.com and join the notification list for this Windows Live Hotmail product. You will be notified when your account is enabled.  Error: 3202. Server. HTTPS is turned on for the web but not for this program. ‘

Following the steps at: http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/office/forum/office_2010-outlook/cannot-sendreceive-error-codes-0x80041059/eaec5d70-137e-41e5-9644-ea94dd9f1465 fixed the errors.
